My REI order came in it was exactly what I hoped for. No missing stuff, no weird size mix-ups, and the box was in good shape too. What else can you really ask for?? Super straightforward experience, so yeah, 5 stars from me

"Box was beat up, and the terms changed"
The packaging was okay overall, but the box showed up looking kind of beat up. Nothing was totally destroyed, but it didn’t feel like much care was taken with it. Also, I wasn’t thrilled that the terms seemed to change from what I expected when I ordered, which was annoying.

"Delivery can be a little hit or miss"
I’ve ordered from REI a handful of times, and the gear has always arrived in good shape, which is great!! The only thing is the delivery timing can be kind of unpredictable. One order showed up exactly when it was supposed to, but another came about 4 days late and I didn’t get much of an update along the way.

Customer service was nice enough when I reached out, but there wasn’t really much they could do besides check the status. I still shop there sometimes because I like their stuff, but I probably wouldn’t order if I needed something by a specific day

I’ve been using the REI app more lately, and from what I’ve seen, it’s been easy to use. Search loads quickly, checkout was simple the couple times I tried it, and I can find my orders without hunting around. I haven’t tested every feature or anything, but I haven’t run into any weird bugs so far

I had a smooth experience using the website. Finding the gear I needed was simple, the filters actually helped narrow things down, and checkout didn’t make me re-enter a bunch of info. If you’re shopping around, I’d recommend using the filters first because they save a lot of time...

"Quality is usually worth it"
REI isn’t always the cheapest place ever, but you pretty much get what you pay for there. I picked up a jacket on sale, and it already feels nicer than almost anything I’ve bought from other stores. Their prices usually make sense, especially once the member deals kick in. Seems like everything from REI just ends up being better quality, so I’m happy with it.

I ordered a pair of hiking shoes from REI.com, the product details were accurate, which I really appreciated. The sizing notes, weight, and waterproof info all lined up with what actually showed up at my door.

I was also glad the photos didn’t make the color look way different — that’s happened to me on other sites and it’s always annoying. The reviews were helpful too, especially for getting a better feel for the fit.

Nothing super dramatic to report, it was just nice to order something online and have it be exactly what the page said it was. Definitely makes the whole process less of a hassle

I had to swap my jacket for a different size, and it was way easier than I expected. I always kind of brace myself for returns being annoying, like printing stuff and waiting forever, but this was straightforward. Sent it back, got the right size quick, and now it actually fits how I wanted. Really happy with how it all turned out.

"The membership has been worth it for me"
I mainly signed up for rei because of the member deals, in my case it’s been worth it. I like getting the yearly rewards, but the used gear discounts and occasional coupons are what I end up appreciating most. I wouldn’t say everyone needs it, but if you’re buying outdoor gear a few times a year, it can definitely pay for itself.

"Worth Checking When the Sales Hit"
I usually shop at REI when I notice a good sale, and I still remember how happy I was when I found a jacket I’d been eyeing for way less than the regular price. I grabbed some hiking socks too, and it felt like one of those small wins before a trip. Checkout was simple and quick, which I appreciated. "Gear held up better than I thought"
I bought a rain jacket and hiking pants from rei.com last year, and they’ve been through a decent amount. Mud, rain, getting shoved in my pack, the usual stuff. I figured they’d start showing wear fast, or actually, no, I guess I hoped they wouldn’t, but I didn’t expect them to hold up this well.
No busted seams, no annoying zipper problems, nothing weird so far. Shipping was totally fine too, but the main thing for me is that the gear didn’t fall apart after a few trips. I’d order from them again.

"I’ve used the REI shop a couple times..."
I’ve used the REI shop a couple times now, first for a bike tune-up and later to have my ski bindings checked. What stood out to me both times was that the staff were easy to talk to and didn’t make me feel awkward for asking basic questions.

The bike was finished when they said it would be, and I could actually feel the difference when I rode it afterward. The ski service took a little longer than the original estimate, which was a little annoying, but it wasn’t a major issue.

They’re not the cheapest option around, but based on how the work turned out, I feel comfortable trusting them with my gear. Overall, a solid experience and a 4-star shop for me.

"Great used gear, but the wait was frustrating"
I really like that REI has used gear options and that they’re making an effort to cut down on waste. It makes me feel a little better about shopping there. That said, I did get frustrated with how long I had to wait for everything to be ready, so that took some of the excitement out of it.

I just had my snowboard stolen and as a 16 year old kid that needs to buy himself a new board i want to make sure it goes swimmingly if anything goes wrong what assurances do i have.
